I have written a book before.
In 2015 I wrote and self-published a guide to employers designed to support them navigate pension regulation. Despite the clearly riveting subject it’s didn’t sell well.
At this time it achieved its aim.
It acted, as intended, as a unique business card designed to showcase my knowledge in a (very) niche subject. However, apart from getting a couple of pence in royalties every now and again, and a couple of copies sitting on my bookshelf at home gathering dust, I don’t think about it much.
I am however massively excited about my next book project.
You see, if you didn’t know, in the past few years I’ve hosted a podcast with my eldest daughter Charlotte.
The aim of this podcast is to share the stories of people doing amazing things in the world and share how if we all could be little kinder to each other why the world might be a better place.
It didn’t take us long to decide on the name our podcast about sharing stories of kindness.
We called it “The kindness project”.
Clearly we went for the ‘Ronseal’ route of naming our podcast opting for a name that, basically, ‘does what it says on the tin’.
Since then, and at the tie of writing this, we’ve published two hundred and thirty two episodes.
We’ve interviewed Netflix documentary makers, business leaders, TV stars but also people like you and me who are just trying to do their bit every day.
We’ve had hundreds of thousands of downloads of our podcast, been voted one of the kindest podcasts in the world and, more importantly to me, allowed me to work on something I believe is really important with people I love…namely my daughter Charlotte and ‘producer Russ’ (who is also my Brother)
My experience is by simply asking people questions, being quiet. and letting people tell their stories you learn a lot. I’m pretty good at asking questions, fairly good at letting people tell their stories but if you know me you’ll know that I’m still learning how to be more quiet.
So, the next book project, with a release date in October is the book sharing everything I’ve learned from hosting the kindness project!
It’s got some amazing insights from some brilliant people that I’m excited to share with you all. Some you’ll already know but some insights which will help you become kinder to yourself, be kinder to others and hopefully live a happier, healthier AND a kinder life.
Currently the final edits are being made, the publishing deal has been sorted and we’re not a million miles away from setting the date we’re going to release the book into the world!
We hope you’re going to love the book but if you’d like a sneaky peak of the book before publication, we’re currently looking for preview readers…and if you like the book we’d love you to share your thoughts. Feel free to email hola@thekindnessproject.co.uk to find out more about how to get involved with being a preview reader!
